Earn tickets and passes by helping out with planning, special events before, during, and after the festival.

We need energetic, enthusiastic, and devoted volunteers to help us make our event a success. Volunteer and meet others who share your interest in film and music. There are many ways to help: planning, promoting, ushering/guest assistance, event set-up/break-down, reception/party support, film/photo/sound tech, concessions, and merchandise.

We invite both individuals and groups to volunteer at HHM. Bay County businesses: volunteering for the HHM can be a great team-building activity and opportunity to enhance our local art & entertainment for members of our community.

Hell’s Half Mile Volunteer Details

  • We ask that you commit to 12 hours or 2 – 3 shifts during the festival
  • Attend volunteer orientation & meetings
  • Sign a volunteer agreement
  • Do not consume alcohol while on shift
  • Only agree to volunteer for shifts you are actually willing and able to work
  • The festival’s success depends on our volunteers. If you can’t make your shift for some reason, please let us know ASAP so we can fill your shift
  • You will have access to festival & venue managers and the volunteer coordinator during special events and the festival to answer your questions and help you with your specific assignments
  • We will work hard to make volunteering a positive experience and one of purpose

  • Volunteers must be age 16 and older. Volunteers under 18 must have proof of their date of birth, and written permission of a parent or guardian, and job options may be limited. A parental consent form is available.
Thank you for your interest in being a pre-screener for the 13th Annual Hell’s Half Mile Film & Music Festival. We receive 100’s of film submissions from all over the world, and the job of a pre-screener is to help narrow them down so we can select the best films for our festival. We take the screening process very seriously, and take pride in giving filmmakers the consideration they deserve. Our call for submissions begins on November 1st, and our pre-screener group will begin watching & scoring online screeners on December 1st. The number of hours per week will vary based upon the number of submissions, but it’ll probably range from 2-4 hours per week. If you’re going on a vacation between December and July, we ask that you give us advance notice so we can make accommodations. We have some questions below to help divide our pre-screeners into diverse groups, so please answer them as completely as possible. If you are chosen to be on our team we will have a meeting to discuss viewing, scoring, and writing feedback on films. We hope to make this process as smooth as possible.
