Detroit’s Bandeau is the shape-shifting indie-pop project of multi-instrumentalist Chad Thompson. Blending danceable new wave rhythms with lush synths, jazzy grooves, and pop hooks that shimmer with warmth, Bandeau’s sound feels playful yet carefully crafted. Think Talking Heads’ art-pop energy meeting the cosmic croon of Nilsson, wrapped in a theatrical spirit that makes each performance unpredictable and fun. With their debut album Spirit Fingers, Bandeau has cemented itself as one of Detroit’s most inventive new acts—and a live show you don’t want to miss.
Minneapolis’ Yam Haus craft shimmering indie-pop anthems with a rock ‘n’ roll backbone, pairing heartfelt lyrics with irresistible hooks that beg to be sung at full volume. Since forming in 2017, the trio has built a reputation for their electric live shows and songs that balance youthful urgency with hard-earned depth. With their latest music leaning into a rawer, guitar-driven sound, Yam Haus arrive at HHM ready to make the Masonic Temple pulse with energy, marking a triumphant return of our festival bringing live music to the historic venue.
Chicago’s The Courts weave together shoegaze haze, jangly indie rock, and psychedelic undertones into a sound that’s as hypnotic as it is explosive. Their songs shimmer with dreamy textures and soaring melodies, then surge forward with rhythm and energy that feel tailor-made for the stage. Both lush and immediate, their music creates a world where atmosphere and electricity collide. We’ve been wanting to have The Courts at HHM for the last few years, and we’re thrilled to finally have them in Bay City.
St. Louis’ Hot Joy has quickly become one of the Midwest’s most exciting new indie rock bands. The four-piece blends breezy pop hooks with fuzz-soaked guitars and a playful, unpretentious spirit — a sound equal parts sweetness and grit. Think jangly melodies colliding with raucous noise-rock energy, somewhere between Pavement’s slacker charm and The Breeders’ bite. Get ready for fuzz, hooks, and the kind of spark that makes HHM nights legendary.
Hailing from Chicago, La Rosa Noir crafts a sound that fuses post-punk grit with surf-rock shimmer and Latin rhythms, creating music that is both hypnotic and high-energy. Fronted by Yeshi Regalado, the band layers moody vocals, driving bass, and atmospheric guitars with flashes of trumpet and synth, delivering songs that feel cinematic and deeply personal. Their debut album Arellano is a raw and heartfelt exploration of identity, loss, and resilience, earning them a reputation as one of the most compelling new voices in Chicago’s underground scene. At the Jefferson Building, they’ll conjure a moody, electric atmosphere — the perfect vibe to cap off this special night of music.
